| The
Bulangs' New Year's Day falls in April by the Dais' calendar in most
cases, a few in May, which is celebrated in three to four days. On
the first day, the New Year's Eve, main activities include thorough
cleaning of their living environment and preparation of goods for
the festival; on the second day, family reunion dinner, and invitation
of friends and relatives to dinner; on the third day, Bathing the
Buddha ceremony in the morning, paying a New Year call to the elders,
baptism for the clan headman, and his blessings for clan members,
and after lunch in the afternoon, villagers, all dresses in festive
attire, thronging to the entertainment ground for ushering in the
new year by setting off fireworks into the sky or singing and dancing.
