Xishuangbanna Prefecture Tourism Administration is a tourism administrative organ under the People's Government of Xishuangbanna Dai Ethnic Autonomous Prefecture. It manages tourism of the prefecture on behalf of the government, specifically committing itself to the following tasks:
    1.to plan for development of the tourism market of the entire prefecture, on annual and long-term basis; contact, exchange and cooperate with foreign tourism administrations and organizations; carry out economic and technological cooperation with partners at home and abroad; guide local tourist industry in its investment on the society and make use of foreign capital; coordinate and contact the association for management of related scenic regions (areas).
    2.to supervise implementation of the national and provincial standards for facilities and services in tourism; carry out assessment and management of scenic regions (areas) of all grades and hotels ranked by stars; manage inbound/outbound, cross-border and special travels.
    3.to handle major cases of complaints within and outside the prefecture and those against local governmental departments and travel service enterprises; collect and manage local travel agencies' deposit for guarantee of quality service in tourism and deal with any claims related; investigate local tourism market in accordance with entrusted authorization; construct the network of relevant law enforcement and quality supervision for the entire prefecture.
    4.to publicize laws, regulations, rules and policies related to tourism; handle reports of breaches and offences and cases of tourists' complaints through investigation and mediation; investigate and deal with and correct any breach of and offence against laws, regulations and rules related to tourism.
    5.to carry through rules and regulations on tour guide training that are set by tourism administrations at both national and provincial levels; work out and fulfill annual training plans for travel service enterprises throughout the prefecture; issue and supervise tour guide certificates, internship tour guide certificates and temporary certificates for tour guides at local travel agencies; check annually tour guides' performances and report the results to upper authorities.
  6.to manage construction of informationalized tourism of the prefecture, and approve and release travel information in Internet; examine and approve tourism work and business procedures within the entire prefecture.
