1.Mangfeilong
pagoda in Damenglaong town of Jinghong city resembles a bamboo shoot
in spring, hence its alternate name "bamboo shoot pagoda",
with a long history of some 800 years. Damenglong used to be a holy
land for dissemination of Buddhism in history. Apart from the "bamboo
shoot pagoda", the town also has many other pagoda including
Bula, Mangna (white pagoda), Manglong (fastened pagoda), Mangnai
Xiangmeng, Mangguanghan, Mangna Zhuangna, and Mangsai, and several
monasteries such as Mangjinglong, Mangguanghan, Mangnaixiang, and
Mangdahe. Of all the monasteries, Xishuangbanna general monastery
in Mangting park near one suburb of Jinghong is the center for Hinayana
in the prefecture.
2.Jingzhen octagonal pagoda is one of key
Buddhist architectures, a refined and quaintly structured pagoda
dating back some 300 years. Set off with jade green bamboo groves
and century-old banyans, the monastery near the pagoda is frequented
by pious Buddhist followers coming to chant sutras.
3.Built in 583, Mangsun monastery at Ganlanba
is the oldest one in Xishuangbanna, in which a 4-meter-high statue
of the Buddha Sakyamuni was enshrined. On one side of the monastery
is a prismatic pagoda, reflected golden in the sunshine.
